The Midway at the New York State Fair is an endlessly fascinating spectacle. Machine driven human brains and bodies ensconsed in steel hurtling in fast, noisy circles through a space of bright flashing color lights framed by the sky. Only just a little tongue in cheek, I love the human-machine symbiosis for the way it shows a sensible intuition of the All. Somewhere in the letters and diaries, Rosenzweig, I think, writes about carnival in Cologne.
