Holy City construction site –I saw this little clip posted by a friend on FB. You can see it here. The shots were put together by Ahmed Mater from cell phone videos shot by construction workers in Mecca.  While I’m sure there are many who lament the transformation of the city, I’m drawn to these images of demolition and reconstruction. Hewing close to the ground, there is nothing elegiac about the footage assembled by Mater. And nothing touristic. Every now and then you catch a glimpse of the topography that surrounds the city.
