New Jewish Life (Washington Heights)

Interesting article in the Forward, which you can read here, about new Jewish life in the Washington Heights and Inwood neighborhoods in upper Manhattan. Part of what works are: old synagogue infrastructure, neighborhood gentrification, young people, urban style, population-demographic diversity, denominational diversity, inclusion, subway links, innovative practice, combined traditional and post-traditional sensibilities, arts and culture, a broad sense of shared neighborhood place with other communities, potluck learning, at home meals, young people, young people, and young people. Tip of the hat to The Beis, Fort Tryon Jewish Center, and Mt. Sinai Jewish Center.
