Joint List Hebrew Facebook Page

United List

Enough is enough. For a democratic Israel, I “liked” the Hebrew FB page for the Joint List, which you can find here. Wherever you find yourself on the political spectrum –left or liberal left or center right– this should be an interesting and maybe an important place to watch; and with which, perhaps, to align.

The Joint Arab List is not exactly a shining beacon of democracy. It is composed of the Communist Hadash, the Arab Nationalist Balad and the Islamists of Ra’am.

Communists and democracy? Islamists and democracy? No love lost there. Arab Nationalism has not produced much in terms of civil rights either. Balad supports equal rights for Arabs but rejects civil or military service for them, obviously the civil duties are something they preserve for the Jews. Balad openly praised Assad and Iran, and Arab MP’s from all parties have visited Muammar Kaddafi in Lybia in 2010, asking him for money.

How “liking” these figures supports democracy is beyound my comprehension. If you want to align with these guys, you go ahead. But remember that by “aligining” with them, you’re also aligning with Assad, Kaddafi, Hezbollah and the Ayatolla’s. Now you can’t say “Wir haben es nicht gewußt”.
