Anatomy of the Alt-Right

alt-right-20160824

This anatomy of the alt-right is authoritative, despite or because of its source. You can read it here. The author breaks “the movement” into constituent parts including “intellectuals,” “memers,” “natural conservatives,” and “hardcore Nazis.” He tends not to see the way these boundaries coalesce and fit together. Core to all the ideological groupings are consistent intellectual and political commitments to “rationality” and technology, the idea of division and destruction, to tribalism, writ large, and to the white tribe, writ small. That President-elect Trump has given them a “platform” is a sign of our times.
