(Jews4BlackLives Kavvanot) Ritual Toolkit (JFREJ)

BLM

Jews for Racial and Economic Justice (JFREJ) put together “In the Streets and In Your Home: Jews4BlackLives Ritual Toolkit” which you can find here. Students of contemporary Jewish history and culture will instantly recognize this project as part of decades long movements committed to Jewish traditions and radical social change. The new things here are its digital and design component and the positioning of Jews of Color and their allies. The layered arrangement of Hebrew ritual-textual expression orients the person around a new critical frame. Unexpected is how the Shabbat tool kit folds, as if seamlessly, the struggle for social justice in this world and the creation of a better world into a meditation (kavvanah) on the world to come without for a moment losing sight of what matters.
