    unfortunately, in both cases I do not think that the change leads anywhere better. elyashiv will be followed by an equally vindictive and uncompromising figure who will, in the end, simply become the puppet of his handlers. mubarak, too, has been replaced by islamists who are, in effect, the puppets of the military. I don’t know what the conditions for real change are, but whatever they all, the fall of the king is not one of them. the real joke of chess is that the game could continue perfectly well on its own without the king were it not pre-decided that his death calls play to a close.
