Proposals dealing with any aspect of Jewish ethics—theoretical or applied, classical or contemporary—are welcome. We seek proposals on any topic, including projects that primarily utilize historical, social scientific, cultural studies, literary, or critical theoretical approaches to matters of Jewish ethics. We welcome proposals for either single papers or panels with multiple papers.  Proposals addressing issues such as race and criminal justice, sexual violence, eschatology, bioethics, economic ethics, national security and international relations, globalization and post-colonial thought, and political theology are especially encouraged, as are papers related to the theme of the 2016 meeting of the Society of Christian Ethics, “Humanity and the Global Future.”  Panel proposals involving members of the Society of Christian Ethics and Society for the Study of Muslim Ethics are particularly welcome.

All proposals should include: a tentative title, an abstract (700-1000 words), a selected bibliography, and the contact information of the presenter (name, institutional affiliation, phone number, and e-mail address). All papers are reviewed anonymously. The Society of Jewish Ethics Annual Meeting runs concurrently with that of the Society of Christian Ethics and the Society for the Study of Muslim Ethics. We encourage authors to submit their completed papers for publication in the Journal of Jewish Ethics. Papers presented as SJE papers are also eligible for publication in the Journal of the Society of Christian Ethics. All presenters must become members of the SJE.
