Spinoza (Affect, Phenomenology, Politics)

spinoza_1

Excellent review, which you can read here, by Benjamin Wurghaft on 3 new Spinoza books:

Hasana Sharp, Spinoza and the Politics of Renaturalization,

Knox Peden Spinoza Contra Phenomenology: French Rationalism from Cavailles to Deleuze

Antonio Negri, Spinoza for Our Time: Politics and Postmodernity

The books look interesting, but Wurgaft’s review is devastating. My own critical sense is that the new Spinoza people sometimes seem to forget that Spinoza lived in the 17th century.
