Boombox Retrospective (Tom Sachs)

052

With its flair of the cheap and ridiculous, Tom Sachs: Boombox Retrospective, 1999-2016 now at the Brooklyn Museum of Art is a mash-up of old tech and junk. Wired for sound, these plywood artifacts fill these photographs better than they do the physical space of the Rubin Pavilion. Unlike other contraptions put together by Sachs, these actually work. The espresso served up at the boombox cafe was delicious.
