The election is still competitive, but let’s climb off the ledge and re-think a lot of bad political theory to which university professors and graduate students are especially prone. Democratic electoral politics is the art of kissing babies, not throwing down the hard friend/enemy distinctions and the whipping up of intra-party sectarian animus that come with messianic thinking. That the latter worked for Trump is not an argument for Democrats.  If Joe is smart he now pivots left having now secured the Democratic base.
