Time

(Santiago Clatrava, Times Capsule at Natural Museum of History, welded stainless steel)

Is this what time looks like? I like the object like character given to it by the sculptor. Time looks like something you could shoot out into space. It’s both foldy and pointed, with no clear front or back. The enclosed link shows better than I can explain the emergence of this figure out da Vinci’s radiating human form and the mandala tradition. I’m not sure I see how it works as a symbol of “human wholeness.” It looks really fast. You can find it at the Museum at the entrance to the Planetarium at Columbus and W.79th St.
