Charlie Hebdo at Immanent Frame

Charlie-Hebdo

There’s No love for Charlie Hebdo over at Immanent Frame –or any much mention of the 4 Jews murdered at Hyper Cacher.

This “off the cuff” short responses to the massacre represent a strange apologetic for religion. You can read it here.

The 13 contributors don’t want to justify the violence, but…

–Charlie Hebdo is a racist publication, no less than the Nazi Der Sturmer.

–Radical Islam or the interpretation of religious beliefs and scripture had nothing, or almost nothing to do with the slaughter. “The Charlie Hebdo massacre does not pose questions about religion.”

–Muslims are discriminated against in France.

The “sacralization” of laïcité is “troubling.”

–Free speech must be “guided” by an “ethics of citizen exchange.”

I don’t know why I would have expected otherwise, but I remain surprised for the complete lack of care or pity for the dead.

I wish it was a surprise but they are generally a humorless bunch which is always a bad sign.
