In Texas, students can open carry into public universities. It was suggested to me on FB that, for their safety, university administrations might want to set something like this up at the podium of the lecture hall or seminar room, just in case professors broach sensitive topics that might “trigger” an untoward response from an armed and unstable student.

    There is really no reason to teach under those conditions. Every professor should consider his/her contract null and void, or adjourn all classes to the nearest gun-free site, say, the halls of the Texas Capitol, space permitting, of course.
