Holocaust Remembrance Day (George Segal)

segal1

In general, not a huge fan of George Segal. But today is Holocaust Remembrance Day, marked by the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau in January 27, 1945. It seems a good a day as any and ever to post this photo of  The Holocaust (1984). As a memory monument, it stands out as both spectral and urgent. The photo was posted at Twitter by the Jewish Museum. Does an image like this, the placing of figures, remind us to never forget, not to look away, to always pay attention?
