(Vital Forms) Art Swarms (East Harlem)

079

Some of the best art in New York City is  up around and about in East Harlem from two separate but I imagine closely related projects, the East Harlem Monument Art Project  (2015) (here) and Los Murals Hablan Project (here)  (2013). Their work gracing the large facades of public buildings, most if not all of the artists are “international.” I have already posted two images on 2nd Avenue which I thought were especially good. At large scale, the commissioned works here combine a sense of freedom and liberation in the open human figure and animal intensities. Circles predominate.
