(God-Like) Sleeping Heifer (New York State Fair 2019)


Do they all do this when they are sleeping? Asleep, the young heifer folds up into herself like a fetus or an ancient ledger book. The almost utter pliability of the body suggests at rest a kind of perfect, divine pose of deliberate self-containment, blissfully and still unaware of danger.
